Funded Early Education

Early years funding

The government has a number of ways to help parents pay for the cost of childcare, which include universal credits and childcare vouchers.

If you're a working parent with children under 12 (or under 17 for disabled children), you can open an online account to pay for registered childcare. The government will top-up the money you pay into the account and for every £8 you pay in, the government will add an extra £2.   You can receive up to £2,000 per child, or £4,000 if disabled with the Tax-Free Childcare scheme.

Please visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for further details and criteria.

Free early education funding is available for some children aged 2 years  - 4 year olds, (9months old from September 2024).

All 3 & 4 year old children are eligible for 15 hours free early education. In addition some may be eligible for 30 hours at 3 year olds.

The amount is given in hours and can be claimed for the term after your child’s qualifying age.
